200g golden caster sugar
250g plain flour
1½ tsp baking powder
¼ cup of Caramelised orange syrup and VerJuice (50/50)*
50g poppy seeds
*Substitute the juice of 2 oranges for the caramelised Orange syrup if needed.
Grease a 20cm springform cake tin.
Mix 200g butter and 200g sugar in a large bowl (mix until light and creamy) then add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after you add each one.
Add the flour and baking powder, mix well, then add Orange syrup, verjuice and poppy seeds. Stir everything together, then pour into the cake tin.
Bake for 50 mins, until cooked (remove once cooled).
